Eight to eighteen-year-olds spend more time in media than in any other activity besides sleeping (53 hours per week). So we have created some of our own media, a large portion created and produced by high school students themselves.

After decades of researching the effects that the sexual revolution had on society, we now know that sex education has just as much relevance in history, sociology and economics classes, as it does in health classes.

It was Forrest Gump who once said, “Guest speakers are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get” …or something like that. However, the CSC Program is considered by both students and teachers, as one of the highlights of the school year.

The people behind the message


meet_the_teamDavid Mahan (Mr. David)
David is the Director of the Common Sense Culture Program, a national speaker and youth development consultant.  A devoted husband and father of four, his driving passion in life is to see his students thrive and build legacies that theycan be proud of – that…and FISHING.

Derrick Collins
Derrick is an Educator with Common Sense Culture who has years of experience communicating to youth through the arts. Whether it be spoken word or acting, Derrick brings a dynamic nuance to the classroom. He has been in a number of commercials, live theater productions, and short films in Ohio, and is also an entertaining youtube personality. Derrick is passionate about ushering in change and providing young people with the information they need to make healthy life choices.

Noelle Geno
Noelle is a CSC educator with years of experiencing helping young women in crisis settings. Born and raised in South Florida to a teen mother and placed into her loving family through adoption, she can relate to many of the most vulnerable. She shares her life experience through humor and grace. Noelle has two daughters who keep her very busy and they love to call Ohio home.

Tammy Margeson (M)
Tammy is the CSC Program Coordinator and the brains of the entire operation. In addition to being a secret agent, she meticulously manages the program schedule and all grant requirements.

Matthew Hazelwood 
Matt is a CSC Educator, with a passion for empowering young people. Born and raised in Columbus Ohio, Matt and his “High School Sweetheart” bride of 6 years have two daughters. His fun and energetic personality makes him a magnet for kids and he always leaves a positive and lasting impression on them.
